How to Create a Habit Tracker in a Bullet Journal

New Years has come and gone and with that 2023 is officially here! This year I made four habit trackers to practice my habits in my bullet journal. A bullet journal is a personal space to really do anything, take notes, make calendars, track habits etc...Habit Trackers are especially useful for habits to work on that are not a habit at the moment. I did not make a habit tracker to things I do well already because I do not need help with those, but for things I wish I did better or things I need accountability for.

The first step to creating a habit tracker is to pick a bullet journal, make the lines, labels, put in the months. For some of my habits I am tracking I am only doing them on certain days. I blacked out the days I am not tracking my habit.

The next step is to select a color palette. Tracking habits can either be in one color or in different colors. I chose a rainbow palette with Zebra mildliners.

Here are my other supplies I used. I used a Sharpie pen for the lines, an Ivory Posca pen for mistakes and a Tombow Fudenosuke for labels.

Here are my four trackers. I changed my second tracker to be a little different. I did rainbow at the bottom. I think next time I would extend the colors up for days that do not exist, so I do not confuse those with actual days that are just black out.

Yes both habit trackers are different, but that is the point of a bullet journal. Practice till perfect and make it functional and cute for personal use. No one else has to see. I like the second one better for the most part, but I like the black out dates better on the first.

What habits are you tracking this year?
