It is interesting to note the wrapper for the color changer crayons are different. The US versions has a metallic wrapper and the Canadian version has a normal wrapper. The wrappers on the US version are colored and have stars while the wrappers on the Canadian version are monochrome.
Collecting Information
Both of these boxes are highly collectible. The Canadian box is different. There are not code or style numbers on the box. I inferred the style number from the bottom of the box. Usually during this time the code number was put on a flap, but I didn't see it. These crayons have been used and the colors from the crayons have seeped through the wrappers. The font is also different sizes on some of the crayons. I think they are all from the same box, but who knows? This is the Canadian version of the box. There is a US version.

I was trying to find out if they still made these. I had them when I was little. According to the google patent search, it's probably US5460647A. The patent mentions leuco dye which is a thermochroic dye. The patent mentions the idea of the dye changing color when the acid in the second is applied. Sadly I haven't been able to find anyone making a similar product.
